Glendale Takes Down Santa Monica
Chula Vista, California – Glendale RFC won their first match of the Round of 16 tournament at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Visat, California, in fine style by downing Santa Monica Rugby Club by 50-19. Center Tyler Siegel set the wheels in motion when he touched down for a try in the first 2 minutes of the game and 10 minutes later, Center Justin Pauga went over the try line to bring the score to 10-0. Full back, James Paterson was next to score and fly half Nese Malifa slotted the ball between the posts to make the score 17-0. Flanker Michael Kenyon slammed over the try line in the 28th minute and Malifa’s kick was true which further gave Glendale RFC the dominance they were enjoying in the first half with a solid score on the board of 24-0. Siegel dotted down again for his second try of the match as the half time whistle blew and Glendale RFC had the lead at 31 to Santa Monica Rugby Club’s 0. Santa Monica came out in the second half like a new team with much more focus and commitment. Mystic, Metropolis Advance
Two very close games punctuated the second bracket in the men’s DI club playoffs, as Metropolis edged PAC 33-26, and Mystic River squeaked by the Atlanta Renegades 17-16. A young Mystic River team did just enough to get by the Atlanta Renegades and make the quarterfinals of the Men’s DI club playoffs.
Austin Survives OMBAC Comeback
The Austin Blacks pulled off one of the more dramatic wins in a dramatic day in the DI club Round of 16, edging OMBAC in Southern California 22-20.
