The Fairfax Eagles are pleased to announce the signing of experienced aussie halfback Reece Blayney. Blayney, 24, arrives in Fairfax following a successful campaign in the French Elite 1 division with AS Carcassonne.

Reece previously played first grade in the NRL with the Canterbury Bulldogs, and has spent time in the Premier League with the Cronulla Sharks and St George Dragons. Blayney is an elusive runner with excellent passing and kicking skills. He's also a good team organizer with great vision, and is a solid defender.

Said club President Steve Grant, "Reece is a huge signing for the Eagles and we're very excited to have him. He was speaking to a number of clubs in Europe and Australia but we managed to convince him to spend the season in the USA with the Eagles. He'll make a huge difference both on and off the field and we can't wait to see him in maroon and white." Blayney will make his AMNRL debut on July 10 against the Pittsburgh Vipers.

Eagles also recently signed Martin Nicoll. Nicoll, 28, was with the Eagles in 2009 and made 7 appearances for the club. Since leaving the Eagles Nicoll signed with the Featherstone Rovers who currently top the Co-Operative Championship in England. Nicoll has previously spent time in the English Super League with Castleford Tigers, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, and Hull KR. Nicoll has also represented England and Scotland on the international stage.
