SFGG Thumps Utes in Friendly

SFGG Wins in San Diego

SFGG defeated OMBAC 47-27 in San Diego Saturday in a preseason friendly for both teams. John Thomas notches three tries for the visitors from the Bay Area, while OPeti Okusi was also outstanding. Both teams were working in some younger players, and for SFGG they saw 18year-old Brendan Hardiman make his debut.

New Looks for SFGG and OMBAC

San Francisco Golden Gate will travel to San Diego this weekend to take on OMBAC in a match of two high-profile American clubs undergoing some significant change. SFGG will be without five of their most celebrated players, with the prospect of only one returning this season.

SFGG Proceeds Without LaPrevotte

Danny LaPrevotte, who helped captain San Francisco Golden Gate to two Super League titles in the last three years, is not going to be playing rugby this season. LaPrevotte, who is 26, told RUGBYMag.com that he is taking a break from rugby to concentrate on work and school.

Old Blue Expands Coaching Staff

Old Blue RFC has announced its expanded coaching staff, which is busy preparing for the upcoming 2012 RSL season. Current Head Coach Steve Lewis moves over to Director of Rugby, where he will provide oversight and long-range planning more compatible with his increased international telecommunications travel commitments.  Prior to coming to Old Blue in fall 2010, the 47-year-old native of Scotland coached Denver Highlanders and Vail and worked with the West All-Star Men’s, Collegiate and Sevens squads and the Eastern Rockies U-19 squad.
